Hi, I’m Rob.

I’ve taken a real interest in hatching and brooding, and pretty quickly realised there should be a better tool for people doing this at home.

What starts as “I’ll just hatch a few eggs” suddenly turns into a hundred little questions. Is this egg developing properly? When should I candle again? Is lockdown right? What should the brooder look like? Why did one hatch and another didn’t? And where do I keep all the photos and notes so I can actually learn from the next hatch?

Most of the answers are scattered across Facebook groups, forums, YouTube videos and old websites. Some advice is brilliant. Some of it is confusing. And a lot of people are just trying to work out what to do next without feeling silly for asking.

That’s where HatchM8 came from.

I wanted to build a simple app for hatchers — somewhere to track the hatch, save candling photos, keep brooder notes, ask questions, learn from each attempt and connect with other people doing the same thing.

HatchM8 is not about pretending AI replaces experience, proper husbandry or vet advice. It’s about giving everyday hatchers a practical companion and a community so we can all get better at this together.

The bigger idea is simple: a tool and community that helps people hatch with more confidence, less guesswork and better outcomes.
